Why I Started Metric Tide - And What I’m Learning Along the Way

Starting a business is never simple — but launching Metric Tide felt like the right move after years spent helping big brands with digital marketing and CRM. I wanted to offer something different: straightforward, results-driven support for small businesses, startups, and tradespeople who often get left behind by agencies chasing retainers and buzzwords.

After two decades working in CRM, lifecycle marketing, and digital strategy, I noticed a gap. Small business owners were struggling to market themselves online. Not because they didn’t care — but because they were busy, unsure where to start, and sick of marketing jargon.

That’s where Metric Tide comes in.

A Different Approach to Digital Marketing

Metric Tide was built on one core idea:
📌 Make digital marketing easy for people who don’t have time for it.

That means:

  • No jargon. Just plain-English advice.
  • Transparent pricing.
  • Clear, measurable outcomes.
  • Support that flexes around real businesses — not cookie-cutter packages.

I wanted to work with real people: builders, shop owners, consultants, coaches, independent retailers. People who wear 12 hats every day and just want marketing that works.

What I’m Learning (So Far)

I’m not pretending I’ve got it all figured out — I’m building this business while juggling life, family, late nights, and the occasional “what have I done?” moment.

Here’s what I’ve learned in my first few months:

  • Starting small is smart. Focus brings momentum.
  • Simplicity sells. Clients want help, not a strategy deck.
  • Showing up consistently online (even when tired) matters.
  • Trust builds slowly — but it’s the best investment you can make.

What’s Next?

I’ll keep sharing the real story here — not just wins, but what it actually takes to grow a business like this. If you’re building something too, or you just want marketing that doesn’t give you a headache, you’re in the right place.
