Building a Business While Balancing Life — The Real Behind the Scenes
If you’ve ever tried to grow something meaningful while also managing school runs, a partner, or an overflowing inbox — you’re not alone.
Metric Tide might look neat and polished online, but behind the scenes, it’s just me — working from the kitchen table some days, running calls in the car, and trying to give every client the time and attention they deserve.
Why I’m Sharing This
There’s a lot of noise out there about 6-figure months and “hustle culture” — but that’s not my reality. And I don’t think it’s most people’s, either.
I wanted to share the real stuff:
- The late nights rewriting a homepage.
- The joy of a new client win.
- The stress of forgetting to send an invoice (yes, it happens).
- The doubt that creeps in when growth feels slow.
Because I believe honesty builds trust — and I want Metric Tide to be built on trust.
What Helps Me Stay Sane
- Systems. I use tools like Trello, Calendly and Notion to stay organised.
- Boundaries. I try not to work after 8pm (though it’s a work in progress).
- Support. I lean on a few brilliant mentors, friends and my partner.
- Reminders. That progress > perfection. Always.
Why This Matters to You
You might be a small business owner, too. You might be reading this between jobs, wondering how you’re supposed to do it all.
Here’s what I’ll say: you don’t need to know everything. You just need to keep showing up — and ask for help when you need it.
If your digital marketing feels like one more thing on the list, I’m here to make it easier.
