What I Learned About Marketing in a Day at Metric Tide
Today I spent the day at Metric Tide with my dad for my work experience.
I’ve heard him talk about marketing and digital strategy before, but I didn’t really know what it meant – or how much goes on behind the scenes.
I thought it might just be about posting on social media, but there’s actually a lot more to it than that!
Before I came in, I thought marketing was mostly about advertising – like making posters or online ads.
But what I learned is that marketing is about understanding people, and figuring out how to reach them in the right way.
At Metric Tide, I saw how different parts fit together – things like:
It’s creative, but it’s also very technical.
One of the most interesting parts was helping to create social media posts for Metric Tide.
We talked about how to write a post that catches attention, what images work best, and how to make sure it fits the company’s brand.
I also got to see how blog posts are written and published – like this one!
If you’ve seen the Metric Tide social pages today, some of those ideas came from me.
The biggest thing I learned today is that marketing isn’t about selling – it’s about communicating.
It’s helping people understand what a business does and how it can help them.
I also learned how important it is to stay consistent.
Even small businesses need to post regularly, update their website, and keep talking to customers – otherwise, people forget you exist.
I really enjoyed spending a day seeing how Metric Tide works.
There’s so much creativity and thinking involved in making businesses grow online – and it made me realise how important marketing really is.
I’ve learned a lot about how businesses connect with people, and I definitely see marketing differently now.
Thanks to Metric Tide (and my dad!) for letting me be part of the team for the day.
